Equipment Rental
Equipment rental is the most common way student group events are supported by MTS. Equipment is signed out from our main office in the Science Center, Room B-02. Students setup and operate the equipment on their own and return the equipment when done.
Free Equipment
Official FAS student groups (those listed with Harvard College's Student Activites Office) can rent the following equipment packages. All of these packages are free of charge if they are returned on time.

- Computer/Video Projector
MTS loans out a computer/video projector package that (for official student groups) includes a screen, small powered speaker, DVD player, and all necessary cables. - Small Sound System
Two powered speakers on stands, with one wired microphone and an input for other devices (iPods, computer, etc). Good for groups up to 125. Not recommended for parties. - Large Sound System
Two large speakers with a powered mixer/amplifier, one wired microphone, and numerous inputs for other devices. This is the only rental system MTS recommends for parties.

Equipment with Rental Fees
Rentals are billed at an hourly rate if the rental period is five hours or less and a day rate it over five hours. Overnight and weekend rentals are billed at one times the day rate. These rates include a 50% student discount. Rental fees are due when equipment is signed out by cash or check (made out to Harvard University). We cannot give a discount to any student group using a Harvard Department's billing code.

MTS does not rent wireless microphones.
Late Fees
Equipment rented for a fee that is returned late will be billed to students at the non-discounted day rate for each piece of equipment. Students late returning the free equipment may incur a late charge if it interferes with another student group booking.
Failure to Make Payment
Students not paying their bills on time may lose their 50% discount on equipment. Please note that no degrees can be conferred until all indebtedness to the University is paid in full.
